Bold Bank Robberies in Gaza Strip Leave Authorities Stumped and Community Devastated

During the month of April, a series of bank robberies occurred in the Gaza Strip, with the victims being Palestinian banks. One of these robberies was carried out by armed groups that pretended to be Hamas. According to a report from French newspaper Le Monde, approximately 66 million euros were stolen during these incidents.

On April 16th, employees at the main branch of Bank Palestine in Gaza City discovered a hole in the ceiling of one of the bank’s rooms. It was later revealed that unidentified individuals had entered the bank earlier that day and stole safes containing about 2.8 million euros in shekels. The following day, the robbers returned and blew up three safes, obtaining around 29 million euros. Just two days later, their total loot amounted to 33.6 million euros.

Despite the large sums of money stolen, no arrests have been made yet and it’s still unknown who was behind these heists. The authorities are currently investigating these incidents but so far there is no news about any breakthroughs or suspects arrested for these crimes that left people in shock and devastated in Gaza community due to its scale and brazenness.
