Blackhawks’ Seth Jones and Alex Vlasic Ready to Compete for the U.S. in IIHF World Championships

The 2024 IIHF World Championships are about to begin on May 10th, with six Blackhawks players set to participate in the annual international tournament. Connor Bedard (Canada), Seth Jones (USA), Philipp Kurashev (Switzerland), Petr Mrazek (Czechia), Lukas Reichel (Germany), and Alex Vlasic (USA) will all be representing their respective countries during the event.

The tournament will last for 16 days and will be hosted in Czechia, with games taking place in Prague and Ostrava. Fans can catch select action from the competition on NHL Network.

Seth Jones and Alex Vlasic will both be playing for the U.S. team during the tournament, representing the Blackhawks on the American blueline in Czechia. Jones has previously competed in Worlds twice before, where he served as the U.S. captain and had four goals and 16 assists in 28 total games across four appearances at the competition. This will be Vlasic’s first time competing at Worlds, having previously represented the U.S at the U18 and U17 levels.

During the preliminary round games that take place from May 10-21st, all 16 teams will compete against each other. The top eight teams from this round will advance to knockout round which culminates with a gold medal game on Sunday May 26th.

This is an exciting opportunity for these six Blackhawks players to showcase their skills on an international stage and represent their countries in this prestigious tournament.
