Become a Mental Health Advocate for Young People: Join the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Youth Mental Health First Aid Training in Windom!
On April 20th, the University of Nebraska Medical Center will be conducting a training on Youth Mental Health First Aid at the Cottonwood County Historical Society in Windom. This program is specifically designed for individuals who work with young people and will be conducted in Spanish.
During the training, participants will gain skills to identify signs of mental illness, recognize substance use disorder, offer support during a mental health crisis, and have conversations about mental health with family and friends. The training is open to all adults who want to learn more about mental health first aid and improve their ability to support young people in their time of need.
The facilitators leading the training include an outreach project specialist and a Ph.D. student from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. They will provide guidance and expertise throughout the training to ensure that attendees are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to help young people navigate their mental health challenges.
In addition to learning valuable skills, attendees will also receive a light breakfast at 7:30 a.m., lunch, a $25 gift card, and a certificate of participation upon completion of the training. This provides an opportunity for participants to not only learn but also be rewarded for their efforts in improving their knowledge on mental health first aid.
