A&M-Texarkana Unveils New $45 Million Academic Building for Business and Technology Programs

Texas A&M Texarkana is set to unveil a new $45 million academic building that will meet the high demands for degrees in business and technology-related fields. The groundbreaking event for the new building, located on the southwest side of the university’s campus, will take place on May 30.

The three-story building, over 50,000 square feet in size, will house programs in business, engineering, and technology. It will connect existing science and technology buildings via walkways on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The new building will include the Center for Financial Literacy and Investment, laboratories for mechanical engineering and design, and a 255-seat lecture hall/auditorium.

A&M-Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander expressed gratitude to the state legislature, Rep. Gary VanDeaver, Sen. Bryan Hughes, Chancellor Sharp, and the A&M System Board of Regents for their support in funding the new facility. Funding for the new construction was secured during the 87th legislative session in 2021.

The new Business, Engineering, and Technology building is expected to play a significant role in the growth and momentum of Texas A&M University-Texarkana by providing opportunities for interdisciplinary study and research. These synergies in high-impact fields will support state-of-the-art learning and provide skilled employees to businesses in East Texas and beyond.
