Top Priorities Identified in Washtenaw County’s Community Health Assessment

Addressing Health Inequality in Washtenaw County: Community Health Assessment Identifies Priorities and Sets Goals

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light the need for a Community Health Assessment in Washtenaw County. This assessment was completed to gather data on community health needs and help guide the county and its partners. According to Dayna Brimley, a Community Health Analyst with the Washtenaw County Health Department, mental health, access to healthcare, and access to healthy food are the top three health priorities identified by both data and community input. Brimley emphasized the importance of involving the community in developing actionable steps to address these priorities.

The county health department plans to collaborate with community members to develop specific action items and goals for addressing these top priorities. By partnering with the community, the department can ensure that nothing is done in isolation and that everyone’s voices are heard. Brimley explained that this partnership will be vital as they work together throughout 2027 to define specific action items and goals that align with these top priorities.
