Addressing Health Disparities: The Black Wellness Family Expo in Phoenix Offers Education and Support for Cancer Awareness

The American Cancer Society has reported that the Black community in the United States has the highest death rate and shortest survival rate for most types of cancer. In response to this trend, the Phoenix chapter of The Links, Incorporated is hosting its first Black Wellness Family Expo. The event aims to educate participants about various health conditions, including breast and prostate cancer awareness, kidney disease, and heart health.

During the expo, attendees will have access to free health screenings, including mammograms, as well as information and services related to healthcare. The event will also feature car seat safety checks and a complimentary lunch for each participant. It will take place at South Mountain Community College near 24th Street and Baseline Road. Those interested in attending can register for the event at blackfamilywellnessexpo.org/.
