A Trailblazing Celebration: Vice President Kamala Harris Hosts Women’s Sports Influencers to Advance Equitable Opportunities for Young Women.

In March, Vice President Kamala Harris hosted a gathering of some of the most influential women in sports at her residence. The event, organized in honor of Women’s History Month and held in collaboration with the Women’s Sports Foundation, featured a diverse group of guests including league commissioners, team owners, athletic directors, and athletes. Among the attendees was WSF founder Billie Jean King, who also offered remarks during the celebration.

During her speech, Harris emphasized the importance of providing equitable opportunities in sports for young women. She spoke about the impact that the work of the attendees has on people of all genders and shared advice from her mother, who encouraged her to be a trailblazer and pave the way for others to follow. Harris urged the women in attendance to define themselves and not let others dictate their worth.

Some of the notable guests at the event included Paralympian and Women’s Sports Foundation President Scout Bassett; National Women’s Soccer League Commissioner Jessica Berman; Las Vegas Aces President Nikki Fargas; Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Darcie Kassewitz; North Carolina Courage President Francie Gottsegen; and Atlanta Dream owner Renee Montgomery. Many of the attendees took selfies at Harris’ residence to commemorate the special day.
