A Norwegian company has come up with a revolutionary system that aims to reduce the cost of installing offshore wind turbines by 50%. The new generation of offshore wind turbines is growing in size, with giant pillars and generator boxes that require massive crane ships for installation. WindSpider, a Norwegian company, has developed an ultra-light crane system that promises to cut costs in half.

The new aluminum frame around the pillar is designed to handle loads over 1,500 tons and includes a heavy-duty crane that can lift components to the top of the turbine. This system also includes additional tools like a “blade tool” and a tool for removing and replacing parts of the generator box during maintenance.

WindSpider’s system can operate at altitudes of over 200m and can be used for both fixed and floating offshore turbines. The company believes that their innovative technology will revolutionize the installation and maintenance of offshore wind turbines, making them more cost-effective and efficient in the long run.

To further develop and manufacture their technology, WindSpider has received significant funding from investors. The company aims to make offshore wind power installations more affordable and accessible while reducing their environmental impact. With WindSpider’s innovative system, offshore wind power is set to become an even more viable source of renewable energy in the future.
