William Carey University: The NAIA World Series Bound Crusaders

William Carey University is heading to Lewiston, Idaho for the NAIA World Series for the second consecutive year. The No. 15 Crusaders secured their spot by defeating Milligan (Tenn.) with a score of 11-4. Head coach Bobby Halford, in his 39th season, credited past championship wins as inspiration for the team’s current success.

During the championship game of the NAIA Opening Round, William Carey scored 8 runs in the seventh inning to pull ahead of Milligan. Senior Preston Ratliff led the team with four RBIs and also earned his second pitching win of the season. With 11 straight victories, William Carey is now 37-14 and heading to the World Series for the third time under Halford.

Last year, the Crusaders fell in the semifinals to Lewis-Clark State College, the host team. This year’s team is determined to go all
