Vueling’s Flight Attendants and Hostesses Stage a Four-Day Strike in France

Unions representing French hostesses and stewards of the Spanish low-cost airline Vueling have announced that they will maintain their strike notice from May 8 to 12. The SNPNC-FO submitted the notice on April 29, hoping for a gesture from management to resume fair negotiations in the common interest of the company and its employees. However, management did not provide a date to meet and sent employees an email with a threatening tone, according to the union.

The company’s financial proposal only offered a temporary increase during the Olympic Games, which the union deplores. The organization has raised concerns about a sustained pace of work with short rest periods, forced flights for some employees, and the use of workers with contracts other than French. The CGT has also joined the strike, which coincides with the Ascension long weekend.

Vueling operates a network of 248 routes, including 42 in France from Orly, Roissy, and six other French airports. The airline carried over 34 million passengers in 2023. Founded in 2004 in Spain, Vueling focuses on low-cost flights and is headquartered in Barcelona. It is a member of the IAG group, which also includes British Airways and Iberia.
