(Adds Qin Gang’s remarks from press conference)

BEIJING, April 14 (Reuters) – China is prepared to function with Germany on the financial and trade fronts, and the two nations are partners, not adversaries, its foreign minister, Qin Gang, stated on Friday.

Qin, addressing a joint news conference with his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, stated artificially placing the brakes on standard financial and trade cooperation would be counter-productive.

Remarking on the scenario with Taiwan, Qin stated if nations want to respect the One particular-China principle, then the correct move is to resolutely oppose Taiwan independence.

China not too long ago had military drills about Taiwan, saying they had tested integrated military capabilities below actual combat circumstances, possessing practised precision strikes and blockading the island that Beijing views as its personal.

On the situation of Ukraine, Qin stated China was prepared to continue to function for peace and hoped that all parties involved in the crisis would stay objective and calm and function with each other.

“One particular point I want to emphasise is that China’s function in the Ukraine situation, our proposition, boils down to one particular point, that is, to persuade and market talks, and we will not do something to add fuel to the fire,” Qin stated.
