Unraveling Self-Awareness: The Mirror Test and Its Limitations in Animal Studies

In the 1970s, research on animals’ ability to recognize themselves in mirrors began. Since then, only a few species have passed the test. While humans regularly look at their reflections, other animals have shown signs of self-recognition in reflective surfaces.
