France’s Unemployment Rate Holds Steady at 7.5% in Q4 2023

Unemployment Rate in France Slightly Increases in Fourth Quarter of 2023

The unemployment rate in France has slightly increased in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to the INSEE. This rise is attributed to a revision of the previous quarter’s rate upwards by 0.1%. Compared to the end of 2022, when it was at its lowest level since 1982, the unemployment rate is now 0.4 points higher.

In terms of age groups, there were significant changes in the unemployment rates. For those aged 15-24, there was a decrease of 0.2 points to 17.5%, while for those aged 25-49 years old, there was an increase of 0.2 points to 7%. On the other hand, the unemployment rate for those aged 50 or over remained almost stable at 5%.
