Auburn Transfer Ja’Varrius Johnson Joins UCF as Wide Receiver

UCF Reels in Another Exciting Transfer: Auburn’s Ja’Varrius Johnson Joins Gus Malzahn’s Team

The 2024-25 college football offseason is winding down, and the transfer portal window is coming to a close. Rosters are starting to take shape as significant transfers continue to happen across the country. One of the most impactful transfers this season is former Auburn wide receiver, Ja’Varrius Johnson, who has committed to play for the UCF Knights next year.

Johnson announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on December 15 with one year of eligibility left in his college career. During his time at Auburn, he played under three different head coaches and put up impressive numbers, totaling 64 receptions for 1,114 yards and eight touchdowns.

In his final game for Auburn against Alabama in 2023, Johnson had a standout performance with four catches for 76 yards and a touchdown. He now joins former Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn at UCF, along with former teammates Kobe Hudson and Lee Hunter.

With Johnson’s departure from Auburn, the school will be looking to Rivaldo Fairweather to lead the receiving corps for the upcoming season. Camden Brown will also be expected to step up as a key contributor in the passing game alongside Fairweather.
