U.S. Rep Terri Sewell to Present $9 Million in Federal Funding to Improve Maternal Care in Birmingham

U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, AL-07, is set to deliver a total of $9.2 million in federal funding to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing and the Bessemer Police Department. At 1:45 p.m. CST, Rep. Sewell will present a check for $8.8 million to the UAB School of Nursing, which will be utilized over a five-year period to increase access to maternity care. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Integrated Maternal Health Services Program.
