Batesville Community Grieves Loss of Business Owner and Wife in Tragic Plane Crash

Tragic Loss: Community Mourns Joseph and Sharon Bryant in Batesville, Arkansas

Joseph and Sharon Bryant, two beloved members of the Batesville community, tragically lost their lives in a plane crash near Marianna in Lee County. The couple was deeply involved in the community and seen as perfect models of citizenship.

Joseph, an Arkansas State University graduate with a degree in business, had been the owner of Bryant’s Pharmacy & Health Care for nearly 40 years. He was known for his dedication to his hometown and had spearheaded the Sara Low Memorial Dog Park project. The park honored a Batesville woman who passed away in the 9/11 terrorist attacks and showcased Joseph’s love for his community.

Mayor Rick Elumbaugh expressed his heartbreak over the loss of the Bryants, noting that they were not only valued members of the community but also cherished friends. Employees at Bryant’s Pharmacy reassured customers that the business would continue to operate in memory of Joseph’s wishes.

The couple had two daughters, Monica and Mallory, and were deeply connected to Arkansas State University. In 2009, Joseph made a generous donation to Red Wolves Athletics and had a suite named in his family’s honor. Funeral arrangements for the couple are still pending as the community comes together to mourn their loss.
