Top Winter Sports Teams Unveiled in Preseason Rankings

The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) has announced that it will be releasing its Preseason Coaches Polls for the 2023-24 winter season. These polls will cover boys basketball, girls basketball, and ice hockey. Unlike previous years, the association plans to focus on publicizing its Seedings Index for rankings in these sports, as well as individual rankings for swimming & diving and wrestling by MaxPreps and On The Mat, respectively.

The CHSAA Seeding Index is the primary method used to determine qualification and postseason seedings for all team sports. It is an hourly ranking system that provides teams, coaches, and fans with a better understanding of current rankings throughout the season leading up to the postseason. To qualify for the index, teams must meet a minimum number of games played which varies by sport and time of the season. The rankings are published approximately 3-5 weeks into a particular season and can be found on the CHSAA Selection & Seeding Index website.
