In the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, several changes have been made based on men’s basketball events this week. Connecticut and Purdue have emerged as clear leaders after strong performances, claiming the No. 1 spots with 24 of 32 first-place votes each. Houston has also risen to No. 3, while the voting for other positions was closely contested.
Marquette has jumped three spots to No. 4, while North Carolina has slipped to fifth after a midweek loss to Clemson. Arizona has moved up two places to No. 6, with Kansas dropping to seventh position. Duke, Tennessee, and Iowa State round out the top 10, with South Carolina moving up nine spots to No. 11. On the other hand, Wisconsin and Kentucky are moving in opposite directions.
Indiana State joins the poll at No. 24, while Saint Mary’s reenters the rankings at No. 19. Oklahoma moves back into the rankings as well. Meanwhile, Utah State, San Diego State, New Mexico, Florida Atlantic, and Texas Tech have dropped out of the rankings altogether.
Overall, these changes reflect a tight race among top teams in men’s basketball this week, with just a small margin separating them in terms of points earned from coaches’ polls.
