I recently conducted an experiment to determine the best method for cooking frozen potstickers using my oven, stovetop, and microwave. If you’re preparing a large batch, the oven is probably the most practical choice. However, nothing can compare to the delicious hot, crispy potstickers that were pan-fried.
The global frozen-food industry was valued at nearly $3 billion in 2023, and my family has certainly contributed to that figure. Frozen appetizers, meals, and sides make it easy to get dinner on the table during the week. One of our favorite frozen treats is potstickers, so I decided to conduct a hands-on test to determine whether using my oven, microwave, or stovetop would yield the best results.
In terms of convenience and time-saving, using the microwave was definitely the quickest method. However, it did not produce as crispy or flavorful results as the other two methods. The stovetop yielded good results but required more attention and care than the other methods. On the other hand, baking potstickers in the oven produced a crispy exterior and a soft interior that was almost like freshly made potstickers.
