In a major move, the Giants added some much-needed power to their lineup with the acquisition of outfielder Jorge Soler. According to reports, San Francisco and Soler have agreed to a three-year contract worth an estimated $12-17 million annually.
Soler, 31, had one of his best campaigns in his 11-year career with the Miami Marlins in 2023, hitting 36 home runs with a .250/.341/.512 slash line. He also earned World Series MVP honors with the Atlanta Braves in 2021, hitting .300 with three home runs and six RBI’s in a six-game series win over the Houston Astros.
While the financial terms of Soler’s deal are yet to be disclosed, it is likely that he will bring some significant firepower to the Giants’ lineup. The team has been struggling to keep up with their opponents in terms of power hitting and this acquisition is expected to change that.
