Professional Tennis Players Association Becomes Part of World Players Association

Tennis Players Unite: PTPA Joins World Players Association to Advocate for Global Tennis Player Rights

The World Players Association is a global advocacy group that supports professional athlete unions and players associations worldwide. After a thorough application process involving review by the World Players Executive Committee and staff, they recently accepted the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) as a member organization.

The PTPA, founded in 2020 by Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil, has grown to include nearly 700 members consisting of the top 250 men’s and women’s singles players, as well as the top 100 men’s and women’s doubles players. They also have a for-profit arm called Winners Alliance, which negotiates group licensing deals on behalf of its members.

Ahmad Nassar, Executive Director of the PTPA, expressed his excitement over being accepted into the World Players network. He stated that it validates their work and provides recognition for their efforts in promoting tennis players’ rights. Nassar believes that collaboration with other player associations within the network will provide an opportunity to share best practices and have a significant impact on advocating for tennis players’ welfare globally.

The mission of the PTPA aligns with broader athletes’ rights movements across different sports. Issues such as equality for female athletes, fair pay, anti-doping reform, and creating a more equitable system are central to their principles. By joining forces with other player associations within World Players, they hope to make significant strides in advocating for tennis players’ rights globally.
