Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Defies Odds to Break World Record in 400m Hurdles at U.S. Olympic Trials

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone made headlines once again by breaking her own world record in the 400m hurdles at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Oregon. Her time of 50.65 secured her a spot at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. This impressive performance puts her ahead of her Dutch rival, Femke Bol.

McLaughlin-Levrone dominated the race from the start, leading from the first hurdle and never looking back. The crowd at Hayward Field cheered her on as she crossed the finish line in record-breaking time.

Reflecting on her achievement, McLaughlin-Levrone expressed surprise and gratitude, noting that she knew she was capable of a time in the 50.5 range.

Following McLaughlin-Levrone in the race were Anna Cockrell and Jasmine Jones, who finished second and third, respectively.

Despite finishing sixth, Rio 2016 champion Dalilah Muhammad shared that this would be her final U.S. Trials.

McLaughlin-Levrone remains focused on continued improvement and exploring different strategies for her race.

As fans eagerly anticipate McLaughlin-Levrone’s future races leading up to the Olympic Games in Paris, there is no doubt that she will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the track and field world.

The official confirmation of her world record by World Athletics is pending, but there is no doubt that McLaughlin-Levrone’s incredible talent and determination will make her a dominant contender for gold at Paris 2024.
