Swan Valley and Chesaning Dominate in Rainy Baseball and Softball Showdowns

Swan Valley faced a tough battle with the rain during their baseball game against Bay City John Glenn. Despite the weather, the Vikings managed to secure a commanding 11-1 victory in the Tri-Valley Conference matchup on Tuesday. The game was called off in the third inning of the second game with John Glenn ahead 2-0, with plans to resume the doubleheader on Wednesday.

Joey Miller put on an impressive performance on the mound for Swan Valley, pitching a five-inning complete game while allowing seven hits and one run. He also tallied six strikeouts. The offense was led by Lucas Ordway, who contributed three hits, two RBIs, and two runs. Jaxon Hartley, Colton Klein, and Aaron Smith each added two RBIs for the Vikings in the game.

In softball action, Chesaning had a dominant showing against Durand with back-to-back victories of 21-0 and 17-0. Izzy Popilek threw a no-hitter in the first game, striking out nine batters and allowing just one walk. She also made an impact at the plate with three hits and three RBIs. Ava Devereaux had an outstanding performance with three hits, including a double and a homer, five RBIs, and three stolen bases.

On Wednesday night at Swan Valley High School’s softball field, Brezlyn Struck took to the mound once again to face off against Durand in Game 2 of their doubleheader matchup. Struck’s pitching prowess shone through as she struck out five batters while only giving up one hit in her one-hitter performance. Marenda Jones led Chesaning’s offense by contributing two hits and scoring three runs while stealing four bases
