Stay Active and Healthy at the Male Seminary Recreation Center in Tahlequah: The Ultimate Guide to Sports Leagues and Fitness Classes

The Male Seminary Recreation Center at Cherokee Nation offers a wide range of sports leagues and fitness classes to its citizens. Located in Tahlequah, the center, also known as “Markoma,” provides an excellent opportunity for people to stay active and healthy.

Terry Hooper, the Lead Rec Specialist, welcomes everyone to the center and is thrilled to see people taking advantage of its offerings. In addition to sports leagues, the center also offers free gym equipment and fitness classes to Cherokee Nation citizens. Non-citizens can join by paying a membership fee of $20.

The Male Seminary Recreation Center offers various sports leagues throughout the year, starting with the fall basketball league in November and moving on to volleyball, pickleball, cornhole, and softball. The center also hosts a senior’s class three days a week, where seniors play chair volleyball. This class has been well received by seniors who enjoy the movement and activity. Plans are underway to expand the class to four days a week.

The Male Seminary Recreation Center is open every day of the week and offers various programs and activities for all age groups and interests.
