Smith Shines on Offense and Defense: Sports Update

Hunter Smith is an 18-year-old senior at Central High School and a standout football player. He was recently named the athlete of the week for his outstanding performance in a double-overtime win over Clearfield in the PIAA Class 3A playoffs. In that game, Smith rushed for 191 yards and four touchdowns, caught three passes for 27 yards and a score, and led the team in tackles with 11.

Smith’s favorite teacher is Mr. Logan, and his favorite subject is statistics. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports and lifting weights. His favorite professional team is the Steelers, and his favorite college team is Penn State. He is also a fan of Neil Walker and looks up to him as a pro athlete.

This season, Smith has rushed for 977 yards and 23 touchdowns, and has 100 tackles for the 12-0 Dragons. Coach Dave Baker praised Smith’s performance, stating “He was great (Friday night). He did all the things right when the time came to do them.”

Smith’s proudest athletic achievement is winning a state baseball championship, and he got his start in football playing flag football. His future goal is to go to college, earn a degree, and live a great life.
