Seventy Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Khan Younis

An Israeli airstrike on a hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza Strip resulted in at least 70 deaths according to Doctors Without Borders. The Nasser Hospital was hit by the attack and many of the victims were children and young people who suffered severe burns.

By midday on Sunday, the clinic had already recorded 47 fatalities with many body bags lining up. The Israeli army did not immediately release a statement on the reported attacks in the area. Médecins Sans Frontières’ project manager in southern Gaza, Christophe Garnier, stated that the medical needs are enormous and that the group is ready to expand its operations, but needs basic security guarantees and unrestricted access to medical and humanitarian supplies. He demanded a ceasefire to stop the ongoing bloodshed.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that attacks in the Gaza Strip would soon be expanded to the south. The military had been calling on northern residents to flee to a southern zone on the Mediterranean for more than a month, and most recently, residents of Khan Younis were also asked to flee for the first time.
