Seattle Seahawks acquire former Carolina Panthers receiver and kick returner, Laviska Shenault Jr.

Seahawks Sign Laviska Shenault Jr., Hoping to Rejuvenate His NFL Career in Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks have recently signed Laviska Shenault Jr., a veteran receiver and former second-round pick, who spent the past two years with the Carolina Panthers. According to his agent, via CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones, Shenault will join the Seahawks in what he hopes is a fresh start.

Shenault, 25 years old, has had a solid career so far. In his rookie year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he caught five touchdowns and accumulated 600 yards. However, his production declined over the following seasons, with just one additional touchdown in three years. Last season was particularly challenging for him as he only played in eight games without a single start. Despite this setback, Shenault was the 42nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and had a successful sophomore season at Colorado State University where he caught 86 passes for 1,011 yards and six touchdowns.

With the potential for new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb to utilize Shenault creatively, there is an opportunity for him to contribute uniquely to the Seattle offense. He will be joining a talented receiving group that includes DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. With his size at 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds and his natural athleticism on the field, Shenault has all the tools to be a valuable asset to any team’s offense.
