Samsung’s Bixby Gets a Boost with Generative AI: Revolutionizing the Digital Assistant in Samsung’s Ecosystem

Samsung is continuously improving its digital assistant Bixby with new features powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI) that will revolutionize its role within the company’s ecosystem. Introduced in 2017 with the Galaxy S8, Bixby was designed to help users get the most out of their smartphones. Today, it is an integral part of Samsung’s entire intelligence ecosystem.

During a recent presentation of the Galaxy S24, Samsung showcased several new features powered by generative AI, including the Rodea search tool, Photo Assistant, Real-time Translation, and Notes Assistant. While these features have not yet been added to Bixby, they indicate that Samsung has plans to enhance its capabilities.

Executive Vice President of the device business, Won-joon Choi, confirmed in an interview with CNBC that Samsung aims to equip Bixby with generative AI to increase its abilities and facilitate more natural conversations. This development aligns with the company’s objective of creating an interface that seamlessly integrates with Samsung products in its ecosystem.
