Sally Beauty Introduces ‘Rooted In Science’ Series in Honor of Black History Month

Sally Beauty and The Black Hair Experience Launch Experiential Event Series During Black History and Women’s History Months

Sally Beauty has partnered with The Black Hair Experience in a collaboration to launch the “Rooted in Success” experiential event series. The first two pop-up events will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24 in Atlanta and Saturday, March 16 in Washington, DC.

The Rooted in Success event series is timed to coincide with Black History and Women’s History Months and is designed to bring together students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), entrepreneurs, Black- and female-founded beauty brands, and consumers. The goal is to foster connections within the textured hair community.

Sally Beauty currently offers an expansive array of over 100 textured hair brands, with over 50 of them being Black-owned or founded. This includes national brands like SheaMoisture, Kaleidoscope, Mielle Organics, and TPH by Taraji, among others. The retailer also hosts six Black-founded emerging brands from its Cultivate Accelerator Program.

Starting this spring, active HBCU-enrolled students in the US will receive a 10% discount on in-store and online purchases at Sally Beauty. The brand emphasizes that they are dedicated to providing opportunities for influential industry leaders to engage, inspire, and connect with consumers and entrepreneurs. John Goss, president of Sally Beauty, expressed excitement about the Rooted in Success event series and highlighted the importance of showcasing founder-led stories from both emerging and established Black beauty leaders. Continued support for the partnership will be ongoing through local events and year-round initiatives.
