The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest begins with Day 1

Rev Up for the Ultimate Barbecue Battle at Memphis in May World Championship!

The Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest is set to kick off on Wednesday, with a lineup of exciting events. This year, the festival has been relocated from Tom Lee Park to Liberty Park in anticipation of drawing thousands of visitors. The competition is known as the ‘Super Bowl of Swine’ and is widely regarded as the Most Prestigious Barbecue Contest, with teams vying for top honors.

On Day 1, attendees can enjoy delicious barbecue from the Kingsford Tour of Champions, BBQ Alley featuring Big Green Egg & Friends, and four renowned barbecue restaurants. The festivities will begin with Barbecue Sauce Wrestling at 5 p.m., followed by the Lighting of the Grill ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online for $25 or in-person for the same price. Single-day tickets are also available for $15.
