Paul Bunyan Communications implements Witbe Monitoring Technology

Remote Monitoring Ensures High Quality Experience for Paul Bunyan Communications with Witbe’s Proactive Technology

Paul Bunyan Communications, a U.S. rural all-fiber-optic network provider, has selected Witbe’s proactive monitoring technology to remotely monitor channels running on its PBTV set-top boxes (STBs) in order to ensure customers in multiple states receive a high quality of experience (QoE). Grant Hicok, the lead video system engineer at Paul Bunyan Communications, expressed satisfaction with Witbe’s products and expertise, emphasizing the importance of partnering with companies that understand their challenges and products.

Witbe’s monitoring technology automatically assesses the picture and sound quality of any video service running on a physical device connected to the Witbox platform, mimicking human evaluation. Immediate alerts are sent to Paul Bunyan Communications’ team when live service quality drops or is interrupted, allowing them to address issues before customers are affected. Monitoring data is consolidated on Witbe’s observability platform, Smartgate, enabling teams to analyze results across devices, regions, and software versions.

In addition to monitoring, Paul Bunyan Communications utilizes Witbe’s Remote Eye Controller (REC) software to access and manage devices remotely through the Witbox platform. This feature enables teams to collaborate and monitor PBTV STBs across different regions in which they operate. Witbe’s CEO, Mathieu Planche, highlighted the effectiveness and reliability of their monitoring technology for providers focused on local markets as well as global players.
