Rash of Near North Side Restaurant Burglaries in Chicago: Police Warn Local Businesses to Take Precautions

Chicago has experienced a surge of burglaries in the Near North Side area, with 12 restaurants being targeted between January 9 and February 6. The police have issued a warning to local businesses about the situation, urging them to take precautions to protect their property.

In each burglary, one to three men and a woman pried open the patio doors of the restaurants and stole cash registers and money. The majority of these burglaries took place in the morning, with four incidents occurring in the first block of West Kinzie Street alone. Two burglaries each happened in the 600 block of Orleans Street, 100 block of West Kinzie Street, and 100 block of West Illinois Street. There was also one burglary each in the 800 block of North State Street and the 300 block of West Hubbard Street.

The suspects are believed to be between 30 and 35 years old, standing at heights ranging from 5-feet-6-inches to 5-feet-8-inches tall, weighing between 160 and 170 pounds. The woman is thought to be between 20 and
