Cole Strange, an offensive lineman for the Patriots, is currently undergoing rehab for a torn patellar tendon in his left knee. The injury occurred in December and he had to be carted off the field. However, the severity of his injury was recently disclosed by Mike Reiss of ESPN.
Despite the setback, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo is satisfied with Strange’s approach to his rehab. Mayo acknowledges that the recovery process may take several more months and it appears unlikely that Strange will be ready to play in Week One of the upcoming season. As a first-round draft pick in 2022, Strange had a successful rookie season, starting all 17 games. He continued to be a key player in his second season until the knee injury forced him to miss the remaining games.
Mayo can empathize with Strange’s situation as he also suffered a torn patellar tendon during his time playing for the Patriots in 2014. The coach understands the importance of taking care of one’s body and giving it enough time to heal properly before returning to action on the field.
