Overcoming Obstacles: A 65-Year-Old’s Journey to a Business Degree at Southern New Hampshire University

As she stood on the stage at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) during Commencement, Lynda Jarrett ’23 felt an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment. At 65 years old, she had achieved her lifelong goal of earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration through SNHU’s online program.

Initially, Jarrett had considered returning to the field of education before being drawn to SNHU’s business degree program. Although she felt intimidated at first by the prospect of studying online, she quickly found comfort in the flexibility and support provided by the university. She praised SNHU for its exceptional instructors who truly listened to her needs and offered guidance throughout her studies.

One of Jarrett’s most memorable moments was receiving her first grade in the program, which validated her decision to attend SNHU. This moment also fueled her determination to overcome any obstacles that came her way. Despite facing challenges along the way, Jarrett remained committed to achieving her goals and never gave up.

Jarrett highlighted the importance of support and compassion within the SNHU community, emphasizing how kindly the faculty and staff had treated her and fellow students throughout their journey. This sense of community played a significant role in shaping Jarrett’s educational experience at SNHU.

As she celebrated with her fellow graduates at Commencement, Jarrett recognized how crucial it was for students to come together despite not having met each other in person due to their online studies. The graduation ceremony fostered a sense of belonging and unity among students who had worked hard towards their shared achievements.

In conclusion, Lynda Jarrett’s journey at Southern New Hampshire University was marked by determination, perseverance, and support from a compassionate community that helped shape her educational experience into one that will be cherished for years to come.
