Pitt senior defensive end, Dayon Hayes, has been named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his outstanding performance in the Panthers’ 24-16 win over Boston College. In the game, Hayes made six tackles, three tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks, and two deflected passes. His TFLs resulted in a total of 15 yards in losses.
Hayes played a pivotal role in holding Boston College’s top rushing attack to just 154 yards, which was more than 48 yards below their average of 202.5 yards per game.
This season, Hayes has accumulated an impressive 40 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries, four sacks, and a forced fumble. He currently leads the team in TFLs and hurries and ranks second in sacks. This is his second career ACC Player of the Week award, having previously won it for his three-sack performance at Miami in November 2022.
As he prepares for the upcoming game against Duke, Hayes will look to continue his strong play and help lead the Panthers to victory once again. The game will kick off at noon on the ACC Network.
