In August, Roper St. Francis Healthcare System will welcome Joseph DeLeon as its new CEO. DeLeon, a hospital administrator from Texas, has been serving as the president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth for nearly 30 years. He has a long history of excellence in healthcare management since 1991 and prior service as a captain in the United States Air Force Medical Services Corps.
The appointment of DeLeon comes after Dr. Jeffrey DiLisi decided not to renew his contract last October. DiLisi had been in the CEO position since December 2020, and Dr. Megan Baker had been serving as the interim CEO since November. Baker will transition to the position of chief operating officer.
Edward McKelvey, chairman of the Roper St. Francis Healthcare Board of Directors, expressed his confidence in DeLeon and cited his experience and skills in healthcare management as reasons for his appointment. The board looks forward to DeLeon’s leadership in continuing to provide quality healthcare and furthering the system’s mission of ‘healing all people with compassion, faith, and excellence.’
