Growing up in a suburb outside of Montreal, I always knew that the city was special. From its vibrant culture to its delicious cuisine, it’s no wonder that Montreal is often referred to as the Paris of North America. Now that I live in the heart of the city, I can’t get enough of it.
On a typical weekend day, I like to indulge in some delicious food and shopping. Montreal has so much to offer when it comes to food – from bagels and poutine to smoked meat sandwiches and doughnuts. After a long day of exploring, my partner and I love nothing more than unwinding with relaxed evenings on our balcony overlooking the city.
What sets Montreal apart from other French-speaking cities is its unique blend of culture, art, history, and affordability. While Paris may be known for its high quality of life, Montreal offers a balance between a low cost of living and a high quality of life – making it an attractive place to call home. In fact, according to Mercer’s 2024 cost-of-living data, Montreal is one of only eight cities out of 226 that achieve this perfect harmony.
Over the past year, since moving back home to Montreal last summer, I have been rediscovering all that this beautiful city has to offer. Whether it’s exploring the pedestrianized streets during the day or taking in stunning views on top of Mount Royal at night, there’s always something new to discover in this vibrant city. So if you ever find yourself looking for an affordable yet culturally rich destination – look no further than Montreal!
