Monta Vista High School and Kennedy Middle School Take Top Honors at Science Olympiad National Tournament, Ishanvi Kommula Receives $10,000 Founders’ Scholarship
The Science Olympiad National Tournament, held in May at Michigan State University in East Lansing, saw Monta Vista High School and Kennedy Middle School teams achieve top honors. This was Monta Vista’s first win, while Kennedy celebrated a back-to-back victory. Ishanvi Kommula from Monta Vista was one of five high school seniors to receive a $10,000 Founders’ Scholarship from the Science Olympiad USA Foundation.
The competition featured 120 middle school and high school teams that had advanced from state-level competitions. Students participated in hands-on and lab events covering various topics such as engineering, physics, epidemiology, astronomy, chemistry, robotics, and coding. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience for all participants.
