Metsä Group plans 100 million euro investment in Mänttä tissue paper factory

Metsä Group to Invest EUR 100 Million in Tissue Paper Operations with Future Factory Strategy Program

Metsä Group is set to make a significant investment in the development of their tissue paper mill operations through the Future Factory strategy program. This initiative aims to achieve world-class efficiency and environmental performance in tissue paper production. The planned investment size is approximately EUR 100 million, and it will be implemented over the next five years.

The primary objective of this program is to improve the production and environmental efficiency of the factory by modernizing paper machines and processing lines, as well as enhancing energy and water efficiency. The long-term goal is to ensure that Mänttä remains a leading producer of tissue paper in Finland. Additionally, this program supports Metsä Tissue’s ambition to achieve fossil-free products and production facilities by 2030.

The first investment under this program will focus on a new hand towel line, which will produce virgin fiber-based hand towel papers for the Finnish market. Preparations for this investment are already underway, and it is expected that the line will be operational in 2025. This investment aligns with other ongoing investments made by Metsä Tissue in Mariestad, Sweden, as well as their planned tissue factory investment in Great Britain, among others.

Metsä Tissue is a subsidiary of Metsä Group’s tissue business, while Forest Board is a publicly-listed company owned by Metsä Group.
