Mets announce promotion of Mark Vientos from Triple-A Syracuse

Mets Set to Call up Mark Vientos, Joey Lucchesi for Wednesday’s Game in Philadelphia

The Mets are set to add two new players to their roster for Wednesday’s game in Philadelphia, according to reports from SNY’s Andy Martino. Mark Vientos and Joey Lucchesi will be called up to the big leagues, with Vientos expected to play third base and Lucchesi set to start on the mound.

Vientos has already appeared in three big league games this season and has hit six home runs and five doubles with 30 RBI at Triple-A Syracuse. He is batting .284 with an .876 OPS over 116 at-bats in 31 games. Batty, on the other hand, has seen his average drop to .230 with an OPS of .609 through 39 games this season, despite having three home runs, two doubles, and 13 RBI. He also has 10 walks and 34 strikeouts.

The Mets plan to utilize both Vientos and Batty at third base going forward. In addition to adding these two players, the team is also bringing up left-hander Joey Lucchesi from Syracuse. Lucchesi is set to start Wednesday’s game against the Phillies, replacing Adrian Houser who was originally scheduled to make the start but struggled in the bullpen during Tuesday’s game. Details of corresponding roster moves have not yet been released.
