Meta to Compensate Creators of High-Quality Threads and Posts

Meta Rolls Out Cash Bonus Program for Creators on Threads: Will It Help Retain Users Amid Competition?

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is currently testing a cash bonus program for creators on their Twitter-like app Threads. Eligible creators can earn money based on the performance of their posts or the number of posts shared on the app. To qualify for payouts, Threads posts must have more than 2,500 views. This invite-only program is aimed at retaining users amidst competition from platforms like X, Bluesky, and Mastodon.

Threads surged in downloads after its launch in July and has become the top-ranked app on the Apple App Store, surpassing X. With over 130 million monthly active users and steady growth, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg remains optimistic about the app’s potential. In addition to Threads, Meta is also experimenting with a “Spring Bonus” program for Instagram, paying creators for engagement on various types of posts. Instagram previously had a bonus program for reels but discontinued it in March 2023. However, there are hints that bonuses might make a return according to Instagram Head Adam Mosseri. These initiatives underscore Meta’s continued efforts to incentivize creators and enhance user engagement across its platforms.
