To protect individuals from COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses, the Massachusetts Coalition for Health Equity is advocating for the reinstatement of universal mask mandates in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. This move comes as we enter the holiday season.
The coalition was founded during the pandemic to support those who are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. On Monday, they held a virtual press conference to urge health systems to reconsider their masking policies. Many hospitals had lifted their mask mandates when the public health emergency was lifted in May.
