During a discussion at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Mark Ruffalo, who has played the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for years, confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Bruce Banner in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World. Ruffalo expressed his excitement for the project, simply stating that “it’s going to be great.”
The fourth mainline Captain America film is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025 and some major characters are set to make appearances. Captain America himself, played by Anthony Mackie, will feature prominently as well as Thaddeus Ross, now played by Harrison Ford after the passing of William Hurt in 2022.
Thaddeus Ross is a significant character in the Marvel universe and has a long history with Bruce Banner. It’s possible that with Ruffalo’s return as the Hulk that this connection could lead to the introduction of the Red Hulk. After taking a break from MCU for a few years, Ruffalo has been working on non-superhero films like I Know This Much Is True and The Adam Project. However, he has also made sporadic appearances in MCU-related projects like She-Hulk and What If…?. His last Marvel film role was in Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
Marvel has also released the first trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine which fans are excitedly waiting for more information about how this film will fit into the broader MCU narrative.
