Longest-Running Media Home of the Kentucky Derby: NBC Sports Extends Partnership with Churchill Downs through 2032

Churchill Downs and NBC Sports have reached a multi-year extension of their partnership, ensuring that the Kentucky Derby will continue to be broadcast on both NBC and Peacock through 2032. This agreement extends the relationship between the two companies, which began in 2001, making NBC the longest-running media home of the Kentucky Derby.

Churchill Downs CEO Bill Carstanjen expressed his pride in continuing to partner with NBC Sports, stating that they are able to capture the excitement and spectacle of the Kentucky Derby. NBC Sports President Rick Cordella emphasized the importance of telling the stories surrounding the Derby and expressed his excitement about continuing the tradition with Churchill Downs.

As part of this extended partnership, NBC has been granted multiplatform rights to cover not only the Kentucky Derby but also the Kentucky Oaks and programming for both events leading up to and including race day. Fans can now expect comprehensive coverage on NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and other NBCU platforms.

The Kentucky Derby holds a special place in American sports history as it is America’s oldest continuously held major sporting event. Today marks its 150th “Run for the Roses” as it takes place at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, starting another exciting chapter in this long-standing partnership between NBC Sports and Churchill Downs.

NBC’s commitment to capturing every moment of these iconic races is a testament to their dedication to delivering high-quality sports coverage to their audience across multiple platforms. With this new agreement in place, fans can look forward to more thrilling moments from one of America’s most beloved sporting traditions.
