Lomita Abandonment: Authorities Seek Help to Identify Pregnant Woman Who Left Infant in Shopping Cart

A pregnant woman abandoned an infant at a Lomita store and Los Angeles County deputies are seeking help to identify her. The incident occurred when the woman entered the store with the baby in her arms, asking for a taxi while she used the restroom. Witnesses reported that she placed the infant in a shopping cart and then went to the restroom.

When the taxi arrived, the woman left the store and abandoned the infant in the shopping cart. Deputies arrived at the scene and placed the abandoned infant in the care of the Department of Children and Family Services. The baby is estimated to be between seven and nine months old.
