Local church hosts technology guidance classes for parents

Parenting in today’s society can be a challenging task, especially when technology is involved. The Church at Tuscaloosa recently hosted a parent summit to assist parents in navigating the complexities of raising children in an increasingly digital world. Parents of children of all ages had the opportunity to gather information specific to their child’s age group.

One of the main topics of discussion at the summit was how to prioritize children’s mental health while parenting. Breakout sessions were organized for different age groups such as preschool, elementary, middle, and high school children. The Church at Tuscaloosa’s Communications Director, Nicole Tegner, explained the purpose of the event as a way to provide guidance for parents parenting in a technology-driven era.

During the preschool breakout group, speaker Jeff Jones emphasized the importance of establishing firm boundaries, being consistent in enforcing those boundaries, and owning up to mistakes when they occur. According to Jones, setting boundaries from a young age helps children understand the rationale behind various parenting strategies as they grow older.

Overall, the parent summit aimed to equip parents with valuable tools and strategies for parenting in a world that is becoming increasingly intertwined with technology. Through discussions and informative sessions, parents were able to gain insights into effective parenting techniques that focus on mental health and set children up for success as they grow.
