Lebanese filmmaker Ghassan Salhab to film a vampire movie in Beirut

Lebanese Auteur Ghassan Salhab’s Upcoming Vampire Drama ‘The Last City’ Acquired by Dubai-Based Sales Company Mad World

Dubai-based sales company, Mad World, has recently acquired the worldwide rights to Lebanese director Ghassan Salhab’s upcoming project “The Last City.” Salhab is a well-respected auteur in Lebanon and has previously directed acclaimed works like “Terra Incognita,” “The Last Man,” “The Mountain,” and “The Valley.”

Set in a deteriorating Beirut that has become home to vampires, the narrative of Salhab’s latest project is structured around five non-consecutive nights that depict the final days of Beirut. With plans to start filming this winter, Salhab described “The Last City” as a pseudo-sequel to his film “The Last Man,” exploring a world where vampires have multiplied and the city is once again divided.

Produced by Tania El-Khoury in Lebanon, “The Last City” is a collaboration between Khamsin Films in Lebanon and Les Films de l’Altaï in France, with support from organizations like the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) and CNC. Mad World, the newly launched sales company at Cannes, is excited to bring Arab filmmaking talent and unique stories to global audiences. Co-presidents Alaa Karkouti and Maher Diab expressed their enthusiasm for working with directors like Ghassan Salhab, highlighting his decades-long career of creating diverse and compelling films.
