Jeff Bezos surpasses Bernard Arnault to become the world’s wealthiest individual.

Jeff Bezos Takes Back Throne as World’s Richest Person, Dethroning Bernard Arnault and Surpassing Elon Musk

Jeff Bezos has once again claimed the title of the world’s richest person, with a net worth of $209 billion. This surpasses luxury tycoon Bernard Arnault, who now holds the second spot with a net worth of $208 billion.

Bezos’ wealth has increased by $32 billion since the beginning of the year, thanks to Amazon’s stock seeing a significant increase of nearly 25%. His holdings include around 9% of Amazon and the space exploration company Blue Origin. On the other hand, Arnault is the CEO and chairman of LVMH Moët Hennessy and has been consistently challenging Bezos for the top spot on this list.

Elon Musk follows closely behind with a net worth of $200 billion, while Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Page round out the top five richest people in the world. Bezos has held this title intermittently over the years, sometimes surpassing Musk or even Zuckerberg when they were at their peak.

One notable mover on this year’s list is Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who has climbed to 14th place with a fortune of $107 billion due to Nvidia’s soaring stock performance. Huang saw an impressive increase in his net worth in a short amount of time.

Representatives for Bezos at Amazon did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment made outside regular working hours. However, Bezos has previously made sizeable charitable donations and pledged to give away most of his wealth to charity by 2022.
