Indian Rowers Race for Olympic Qualification in Lucerne

The World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta 2024 is set to take place in Lucerne, Switzerland, with the hopes of Indian rowers to secure quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics. A total of 147 boats will be competing across 14 Olympic boat classes, vying for 30 quota places.

The M4- boat class, featuring Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar, and Ashish, will represent India. This quartet previously won a bronze medal at the Asian Games and finished fourth in a World Cup event. Meanwhile, Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram are looking to secure a quota for India in the men’s pair (M2-) event. Additionally, Balraj Panwar recently secured India’s first Paris 2024 quota in rowing by winning the bronze medal in the men’s single sculls (M1x) event at the Asian and Oceania Rowing Olympic Qualification Regatta in South Korea.

It is important to note that the representation of athletes at the Paris Games is at the discretion of National Olympic Committees (NOCs). The World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta will conclude on May 21 with Indian rowers aiming to secure their spots at the prestigious Paris 2024 Olympics.

Indian rowers are gearing up for a crucial moment as they look to secure quotas for the Paris Olympics in various events. The M4- boat class will feature Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar, and Ashish who have already achieved success with their previous wins at Asian Games and World Cup events.

Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram are also part of the team looking to make it into the men’s pair (M2-) event after securing a bronze medal at Asian Games.

Balraj Panwar has already secured India’s first quota for Paris 2024 with his win in men’s single sculls (M1x) event at Asian and Oceania Rowing Olympic Qualification Regatta in South Korea.

However, it’s important to note that representation of athletes at Paris Games is discretionary based on NOC selection criteria. Indian rowers must perform well during A-Final races live streaming on May 21st if they want to secure their spots on one of world’s biggest stages – The Paris Olympics.
