Health and Community: Kaua’i District Health Office Hosts National Public Health Week Open House

The Kaua‘i District Health Office (KDHO) is hosting an open house on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as part of National Public Health Week, which takes place during the first full week of April each year by the American Public Health Association. The event will take place on Umi Street across the elections building, adjacent to the Central Pacific Bank building, where members of the community can speak with Hawai‘i State Department of Health staff about programs and actions that can address public health challenges.

Dr. Janet Berreman, Kaua‘i District Health Officer, stated, “National Public Health Week is an opportunity for us to showcase the many programs and services that we offer at KDHO to improve the well-being of our community.” KDHO staff are excited to welcome everyone at this event and express their gratitude towards our community and partners for their ongoing support in building a thriving and healthier Kaua‘i.

The open house will include representatives from high schools, with a focus on health academies, senior citizen clubs, Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami, the Kaua‘i County Council, the governor’s liaison, and Kaua‘i’s legislative team. Department of Health professionals present will include vector control, administrative services, community health workers, public health nurses
